February 5, 2024 | The Stuttgart-based electrical trade company B\u00fcrkle + Sch\u00f6ck was recently awarded the prestigious Seifriz Award 2024. The prize recognizes the successful transfer of knowledge between crafts and science. In cooperation with the Institute for Energy Transmission and High Voltage Technology at the University of Stuttgart, led by Dr. Michael Beltle, B\u00fcrkle + Sch\u00f6ck has developed globally-unique XXL air coils for the certified power measurement of wind turbines.<\/p>\n

\n

Innovation from craftsmen for energy transition<\/h3>\n

The XXL air coils are a quite individual development from which energy transition benefits in its entirety. They enable effective and safe testing of wind turbines, where high voltages of up to 72 kV and high short-term currents of up to 3,000 Amperes can occur. The development of the coils is based on the successful combination of complex computer-aided simulations and practical tests. Voltage flashovers could be avoided in the long term thanks to the optimal design of the coils. B\u00fcrkle + Sch\u00f6ck is the only company in the world that has the electrical engineering competence, expertise and manufacturing capabilities to produce air coils in this XXL format.<\/p>\n

The Seifriz Transfer Price<\/h3>\n

This coveted cooperation award has been organized for over 30 years as a competition for knowledge transfer under the auspices of Handwerk BW by the Verein Technologietransfer Handwerk e.V. and in cooperation with the business magazine “handwerk magazin”. The prize honors innovative cooperation between craftsman businesses and science. The award winners will also take part in the “Zukunft Handwerk” Congress, which will take place in Munich from February 28 to March 1.<\/p>\n
