Power Quality
The future security of our power grid
Our world is becoming increasingly electronic, with computers everywhere: smartphones, televisions, smart refrigerators, building systems technology, LED lighting, and automated machines have long been part of everyday life—both at home and at work. Electricity is increasingly coming from photovoltaic systems and being stored – heat pumps provide heat and electric cars are charged directly at the house wall via a wallbox. In companies, frequency-controlled machines, drives, and pumps are also increasingly being used.

This development brings comfort, sustainability, and future viability. But it also has a downside: all these electronic devices generate network disturbances – so-called harmonics. These can lead to serious problems in the power grid:
- Overloaded lines
- Overheated machines
- Failures of electrical devices
The more devices and machines with power electronics are used, the stronger the network disturbances become – even in medium-voltage networks. In the future, network operators could therefore demand targeted protective measures such as filter solutions for distortion reactive power caused by harmonics (caused by power electronics), similar to classic reactive power compensation (inductive reactive power).
An often underestimated risk: Grid disturbances not only affect your own system – they can also affect your neighbors. According to NAV §19, the grid operator is even entitled to disconnect your system from the grid in an emergency.
Our solution: Power quality from a single source
We support you in identifying, measuring, and specifically remedying grid reaction problems. We not only offer you analysis, but also the right products for filtering – including installation and consulting.

Technical background: Did you know?
- Third harmonic: According to Kirchhoff’s first law, the sum of the currents at the star point should be zero. This is not the case with the third harmonic (e.g., due to single-phase consumers) – the currents add up and overload the neutral conductor and the pen conductor.
- Fifth harmonic: This generates a counterclockwise rotating field and counteracts the normal clockwise rotating field – which can lead to power losses and overheating of electrical devices.
