August 5, 2026 | Understanding Power Quality – Improving Grid Quality for the Long Term.
»Dr. Oberwelle« – who or what is that? Behind the pseudonym “Dr. Oberwelle” is Thomas Bürkle, Dipl.-Ing. (FH), our Technical Managing Director – an expert in power quality, network analysis, and harmonics.
His goal is to raise awareness among companies about an issue that often only receives attention once disruptions, production downtime, or costly damage have already occurred.
Yet many problems can be identified early on and prevented through thorough grid analyses. Analyzing grid quality provides clarity on complex interrelationships, uncovers the causes of disruptions, and lays the foundation for cost-effective and sustainable solutions. The guiding principle is: prevention rather than reaction – because unplanned outages are generally much more expensive than preventive measures.
The pseudonym “Dr. Oberwelle” was deliberately chosen with a touch of humor. However, the goal behind it is serious: to raise awareness among companies about the importance of high power quality and to demonstrate its impact on operational safety, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
In an initial video on his LinkedIn profile, Thomas Bürkle presents the motivation behind “Dr. Oberwelle” and explains why power quality and grid analyses are playing an increasingly important role for modern companies.
